Dalit minor girl gang-raped; three of five suspects arrested

A Dalit minor girl was allegedly gangraped by five people in the Sachin Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) area here.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon after which the girl lodged a complaint with the Sachin GIDC police station yesterday.
Three of the five suspects have been arrested today, police said.
The police said that the girl was sitting with her friend, when the five men raped her in the bushes behind Shivnagar area on Sachin GIDC road and also stole her mobile phone as well as cash, after injuring her friend.
The five also threatened her against complaining to the police regarding the incident.

However, the girl and her mother lodged a complaint at the Sachin GIDC police station.

"Three people were arrested today in connection with looting and raping the girl. Two others are on the run. A search is on to nab them," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-II S K Dave told PTI.
The three arrested suspects are Samarjit Pal (20), Gopal Ram (26) and Ajay Pal (23), all residents of Shivnagar in the Sachin GIDC area.
The five have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Atrocities Act and the recently enacted POCSO Act, the police said.
