Actor Matt Damon has jokingly blamed Jimmy Kimmel for the shocking mix-up during the best picture announcement at the 89th Academy Awards, saying "that's what they get for hiring Jimmy."
At the Oscars ceremony, "La La Land" was declared the best picture instead of the actual winner, "Moonlight".
The mistake occurred as presenters Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty were given the wrong envelope before going onstage.
Keeping his hilarious, long-running feud with Kimmel alive, Damon pointed the finger at the host saying producers "got what they paid for", reported Entertainment Tonight.
"I was the one person who wasn't surprised that it all got screwed up. That's what they get for hiring Jimmy. You know, they got what they paid for," he said.
Kimmel too went after Damon while hosting the ceremony.
He said that Damon made a sacrifice by passing the "Manchester by the Sea" role to star in a "Chinese ponytail movie instead and that movie went on to lose USD 80 million.
