The Election Commission today advanced by a day the date of scrutiny for the fifth phase of assembly elections in Bihar.
A Commission statement said that it has decided to "revise" the date of scrutiny of nominations for the fifth phase as October 16. Earlier, the date was October 17, a Saturday.
The statement gave no reasons for the change. EC has powers under Section 30 of the Representation of the People Act, to make these changes after announcing poll schedule.
The notification for the last phase will be issued on October 8, while polling will be held on November 5.
