Daughter-in-law of ex-MLA kills self

Daughter-in-law of a former MLA allegedly committed suicide today in Tri Nagar area of Central Delhi, with her parents suspecting that the 27-year-old woman was killed for dowry.
Rekha allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan this afternoon, police said, adding that a case has been registered and SDM is probing the case.
The woman got married last year to one Sudhanshu, the son of former MLA Shadi Ram.
Rekha's parents have alleged that her husband used to torture their daughter over petty issues and demanded dowry.
"Sudhanshu's family informed us that Rekha had committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan this afternoon. We then informed the police and reached the spot. We suspect that Rekha was killed and then hanged by her in-laws," said a family member of the deceased.

Police reached the spot and rushed Rekha to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
No suicide note was found from the spot, police said.
The police have recorded the statement of the family members of the deceased and her in-laws.
