The 87-year-old, who is the younger brother of movie legend Richard Attenborough, underwent an urgent operation to have a pacemaker fitted, and is now said to be making good progress, reported Independent online.
A spokesman for the star, who cancelled a speaking tour of Australia to have the surgery, said, "Sir David has now had the operation and his doctors are satisfied with his progress. It's a minor procedure but it meant that he cannot go on a 27-hour flight to Australia.
"He is very disappointed that he can't fulfil the tour but it's nothing to be alarmed about. He's seeing his doctor now but he's still his lively self."
