Sundaram, a former Delhi opener, has intimated his decision to DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan stating "he is no longer interested" in continuing his job.
"I have been associated with DDCA for the last 25 months and have fulfilled my duty to the best of my ability. During my tenure, I have overseen the preparation of IPL, Champions League matches along with all domestic tournaments," Sundaram told PTI.
"At this point of time, I am simply not interested to continue in this role any further. I have some pressing personal reasons as well as other professional commitments that I am looking forward to. A phase of my career has ended and I want to move on," he said.
On his potential successor, he said: "A young BCCI approved curator Ankit Dutta has assisted me for the past couple of seasons and I feel he is ready to do the job. Since I did not have any appointment letter, I did not tender my formal resignation. I am supposed to get around Rs.25 lakh for my services but it is not about the money. I just have nothing more to offer."
When Chauhan was contacted, the former India opener admitted that Sundram has conveyed his decision to him.
"Even selectors and support staff have not been paid as some of them are members. We have written to Registrar of Companies to allow us to pay remuneration to people for rendering professional services."
Chauhan concluded by saying that DDCA will "definitely find a suitable replacement" for Sundaram.
