To protest against not getting their due in the OBC quota and demand a slice out of 27 per cent reservation, members of de-notified nomadic tribes (DNT) and most backward classes (MBC) will take out a rally here tomorrow.
Former Congress MP Haribhau Rathod, who has organised the protest, said the DNT and the MBC categories have not got their share despite the OBC reservation in force over the last 22 years.
He said the Central OBC list needs to be divided and a new sub-category of Extremely Backward Class (EBCs) such as Nai, Khati, Wadde, Luhar, Sutar, Kumbharm Dhobi, Ramoshi, Patwa, Beldar among several other sub-castes has to be created.
Rathod said the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) has recommended to sub-categorise the 27 per cent quota into three groups through its report submitted to the Centre a year ago.
"Once a national commission submits its report on a reference made by the Government of India, it is normally obligatory on the part of the dispensation to accept the report," said Rathod, who is member of Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra.
