In a novel composition, ace music director Debojyoti Misra will capture the fluidity of Bengali music in the course of time tracing the centuries-old journey.
"I have sought to capture the evolution of Bengali music and how it adapted with the pace of time ever since the 18th century till the 80s," Rituparno Ghosh's favourite musician told PTI here on the sidelines of the inauguration of a new gallery.
"I will chronicle the story through the words of a fictional singer Bangolal Das and heavily draw on the folk tunes and lyrics of those times showing their links with the recent era," Debojyoti said referring to the audio-visual 'Story of Songs' show.
The mercurial music man, having been Rituparno's musical collaborator in films including Raincoat and Memories in March, earlier inaugurated the Goithic Haat, the first ever art gallery in this part of country where furnitures and door decor has been sculpted on various themes in sync with the displayed art objects and paintings.
"I am in favour of holding a live art session where sculpting and paintings will be blended with musical accompaniments," Debojyoti said while standing before a teak wood sculpture apparently shaped as a woman's womb as a gender statement. PTI SUS.
