Decks cleared to start work on Mubarak Mandi ropeway: Minister

The prestigious Mubarak Mandi Ropeway project in the city will soon become a reality as decks have been cleared to start work on the scheme, which is expected to boost tourism industry in Jammu.
"All impediments for laying of the Project have been resolved and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will lay the foundation of the project tommorrow at Bahu Fort area," Tourism Minister Gulam Ahmed Mir said here today.
The project is expected to boost tourism in the city of temples, the Minister said.
He said all formalities like environmental, wildlife and forest clearances have been completed for the Rs 40-crore cable car project between Peerkho-Bahu Fort-Mahamaya Temple.
Mir said the work on the project, which has been awarded to Damodhar Ropeway and Infrastructure Ltd Kolkata in collaboration with ST Teleferik, Turkey, will start soon.
He said the tourist influx, which was just 40,000 in 2008, has increased to 1.10 crore last year.
