India 'Above' 19 is a unique concept that is being tried out by the BCCI in order to resurrect the careers of those who are caught in the transition from colts cricket to senior cricket.
Dasgupta, who had played 8 Tests for India during the 2001-02 season, had successfully captained Bengal and is also the assistant coach of the IPL side Pune Warriors. Dasgupta also happens to be the chairman of selectors of Cricket Association of Bengal.
"It's an effort to groom the talented youngsters who seem to lose focus after crossing 19 years. The tournament is likely to be held in August," CAB joint secretary Subir Ganguly informed about receiving a mail in this regard from the parent body.
The Above-19 team features two players from Bengal -- Alok Pratap Singh and Ravikant Singh.
