Delegation urges Rajnath to develop Cooch Behar region

A delegation of Greater Cooch Behar People's Association today urged the Centre to take measures for socio-economic, linguistic and cultural development of the region.
Accompanied by Darjeeling MP S S Ahluwalia, the delegation today submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Rajnath Singh containing a set of demands for social, economic, linguistic and cultural development of Cooch Behar region and areas of the erstwhile Cooch Behar state.
The Home Minister assured the delegation that the demands raised by them would be looked into in consultation with all stake-holders, an official release said.
Singh said the Central government is committed to the socio-economic and cultural development of all regions within the framework of the Constitution.
The leaders of the delegation expressed satisfaction after meeting the Home Minister and on his suggestion offered to bring to an end their on-going agitation at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
