Vijender Gupta, leader of the BJP legislature party, said that Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are responsible for not tabling the Commission's report due to which all three municipal corporations are facing a deep financial crunch these days.
According to Gupta, the Fourth Delhi Finance Commission, which is mandated to examine the financial position of the municipalities, was established in October, 2009.
"The commission had submitted its final report on April 5, 2013, but due to government inaction under Congress regime and subsequent AAP rule, it has not been implemented so far," Gupta told a press conference here.
BJP also warned the if government fails to table the report during two-day Assembly session to be held on March 24, and 25, it would create a constitutional crisis since the commission is a statutory body and the state government is obligated to act on its recommendations.
"If the government refuses to table the report, BJP would raise the issue inside and outside the Assembly. AAP government should think about the betterment of Delhi and its people," he said.
"Whenever a political party comes to power, it provides a room to opposition parties in the premises of Assembly for a meeting, but AAP government has broken this tradition. If we are soon not provided a space, we will hold a meeting of our MLAs in the open during Assembly's session," he added.
