Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal today pitched for developing children's parks on gram sabha land and asked civic bodies to consider installing water ATMs in areas under them.
The directions were issued at a high-level meeting of senior officers of all the three MCDs and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), chaired by the LG.
"In the meeting, the Lt Governor emphasised that gram sabha land could be developed for children's park in the neighbourhood of settlements. He also directed that all municipal bodies must explore scope for installing Water ATMs in their respective areas," the LG's office said in a statement.
Baijal asked municipal bodies to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in their respective areas. He further stressed that for the maintenance of parks, RWAs should be involved on a permanent basis, it said.
The LG also asked the authorities to ensure that there should be no encroachment on pavements and parks, besides advising them to improve their grievance redressal systems by deploying latest technological tools like mobile apps.
He directed them to make concerted efforts to make all municipal services available online as that would enhance speed, transparency and efficiency in service delivery besides checking corruption and undue discretion.
