At a felicitation ceremony organised by the Delhi Government at the Thyagraj Stadium here, the Delhi CM announced cash awards of Rs 5 lakhs, Rs 3 lakhs and Rs 2 lakhs given for the gold, silver and bronze medal winners respectively.
Special Olympics Bharat had sent a contingent of 184 athletes to the Games in Athens, The team participated in 12 disciplines and returned with a rich haul of 243 medals.
Of these 22 athletes were from Delhi and came back after winning a total of 10 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals.
