As part of their endeavour to promote cricket and identify and nurture talent at the grassroot level, Delhi Daredevils will be associating with UAE-based G Force Cricket Academy to train budding talent in the city.
In a first of its kind initiative, the Daredevils support staff would be holding five-day clinics in the country spread over the next one year.
The Delhi outfit has been organising School Cricket Cup since 2012 and had 48 schools in the first year of the programme. And the number since have only increased in the last two years. This year Delhi Daredevils plan to reach 96 schools across the Delhi NCR region.
Delhi Daredevils Board Director, TA Sekar said, "This is a huge opportunity for the youngsters as they will be getting first hand coaching tips from the top class DD coaching team. UAE has a huge potential to make a mark on world cricket map and I am sure that through this clinics we would be able to unearth substantial talent that can go on to represent the country over the years."
G Force Cricket Academy, based in Dubai since 2004, is run by former Saurashtra cricketer Gopal Jaspara. The Academy has trained over 1000 players and a few of them have already represented UAE in various age groups. G Force Cricket Academy organised many cricket coaching programs in UAE, India and England
Gopal Jasapara welcomed Delhi Daredevils in UAE with this unique coaching initiative and said, "We have already had the likes of Ramakant Achrekar, coach of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar gracing our academy. Former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams is a Brand Ambassador with the Academy. But this tie up with DD will go a long way in nurturing talent here."
Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua said, "Delhi Daredevils have been involved in various development initiatives in Delhi and NCR region which aim at training and nurturing talented cricketers as we look to broad base the talent pool. This association with G Force will only help us to extend our initiatives overseas as well.
"We also plan to open a full-fledged Cricket Academy in Delhi NCR and some other countries in Asia in the coming days", added Dua.
