Delhi EC to keep tab on political activities ahead of Holi

Delhi Election Commission will keep a tab on activities by political parties ahead of the festive season, for any violations of the Model Code of Conduct.
"No political parties can use a festival or a religious occasion to further their political interest or as a means of campaign.
"In such occasion if a candidate puts a poster, photos, cut-outs, or holds a stage programme or gives speech, the entire expense will be added in his/her expenditure account," Chief Nodal Officer Ankur Garg, said.
If any political party distributes any thing to people for free, it is a violation of the model code of conduct.
Garg informed that so far a total of 70 FIRs have been registered against political parties for violating the MCC, including 10 each against BJP and Congress and seven against AAP.
"39 FIRs are registered against other political outfit," said Garg.
A total of 438 persons are booked against whom preventive actions taken under various sections of CrPC have been initiated, while 82 licensed arms have been deposited and 10 arms impounded.
A total of 665 persons are bound down under section 107/116 of CrPC.
The EC has also seized liquor in large quantity. So far 759 full bottles, 105 halfs and 22,230 quarters of country liquor have been seized. Likewise, 29 full bottles and 5,040 quarters of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) have been seized.
Taking action against defacement of property, the Commission has so far removed 527 hoardings from public property till date, while a total of 62 FIRs are lodged for defacement.
A total of 49 hoardings were removed from private properties and seven FIRs are lodged for defacement of private property.
Moreover, so far 2,324 complaints of MCC violations have been received by the Commission's control room from public and out of which 2,007 have been disposed off.
