"The stupendous victory of AAP in the Delhi election is a total rejection of BJP and the leadership of Narendra Modi," CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat said.
He said that the results have also shown that people are ready to vote for "viable" alternatives apart from Congress and BJP.
"This shows that people of Delhi have not only rejected BJP but they have shown that if there is a viable alternative to BJP and Congress, they will opt for it.
Karat said that in the Delhi polls, minorities voted for AAP in a "big way" as they see the party as a viable force which can fight BJP.
Halting the Modi juggernaut, AAP scored a landslide victory in the election by snatching 67 of the 70 seats after steamrolling BJP leaving it with only three seats and decimating Congress which drew a blank.
Holding that it was a "wider" messege, Karat said that the central government's economic policies and both the government's as well as BJP's "communal approach did not not meet with the approval of the people of Delhi".
To a question, he said that his party is prepared to join hands for common struggles for people's issues with any "non-Congress secular party".
"We are not interested in electoral alliance but on questions on people's issues... We are prepared to have a common platform and joint struggles with parties like AAP but that will depend on the situation in the coming days," he said.
In their effort to keep BJP and Congress out of power in Delhi, Left parties had extended support to AAP and asked their supporters to vote in favour Arvind Kejriwal-led party on all seats, barring the 15 seats in which all seven Left parties had jointly fielded their candidates.
