Delhi had the chance to top the league standings in their previous two matches but on both occasions they could only eke out a draw, thereby squandering the opportunity, and they will once again try to achieve that in front of the home crowd at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
They almost lost their last match against Mumbai City FC before being saved by the injury-time equaliser from local boy and India international Robin Singh.
The highlight of Delhi's campaign this season has been that they have won three away matches out of five and their form on the road has kept them among the top three despite the not so impressive results at home. Though they have been unbeaten in the three matches they played at the JLN Stadium so far.
The reason for this is that the Roberto Carlos-coached side have been rock solid in their defence with Liverpool legend John Arne Riise marshalling the back four brilliantly along with Anas Edathodika. With goalkeeper Antonio Doblas in great form, Delhi have conceded just seven goals in eight matches so far.
The good news is that Robin seemed to have found his goal-scoring mojo back as he also scored the winning goal in India's 1-0 victory over Guam in the 2018 World Cup qualifier in Bangalore yesterday. This he did after scoring the equaliser for Dellhi against Mumbai on November 6 here.
Delhi's weak link has been the lack of goals as they have scored just seven of them, the least among the eight teams, and Robin's form will be good news for the team.
