Delhi govt allows higher edu institutions to operate from

Delhi government today decided to allow existing higher educational institutions to operate from Lal-Dora and other non-conforming areas for another year.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, after a cabinet meeting, said existing educational institutions will be allowed to function from Lal Dora, extended Lal Dora and other non-conforming areas for the current academic year.
She said government has decided to allow increase in intake and addition of courses to the institutes and colleges functioning from Lal Dora and extended Lal Dora for the academic year 2013-14.
At present, 10 institutes affiliated to Guru Govind Singh Indraprashtha University are operating from Lal Dora areas. 16 other institutes are also operating from Lal Dora and extended Lal Dora and other non-conforming area.
These institutes are being given NOC on annual basis, since 2007-08.
The cabinet was of the view that the future proposal for granting no-objection certificates to these institutes be given for a period of five years.
The Chief Minister said the cabinet has given its approval for revising the cost for construction of 15 road overbridges and road underbridges on cost-sharing with railways.
The cabinet has also given its nod for grant of ration money allowance to car drivers of prison department.
This would benefit 33 drivers as they would be getting daily ration money.
Dikshit said the cabinet has decided to recommend to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to prorogue the monsoon session of the assembly of Delhi which had commenced on August 27 and adjourned sine-die on August 30.
