There are 153 points in the city where water-logging is a perennial problem during monsoon, triggering severe traffic jams and flooding in various localities.
"The aim of this move is quick redressal in those water-logging points which brings the national capital to a standstill during the rains," said Dharampal, secretary of Delhi's Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
With monsoon about a couple of months away, Dharampal will also hold a review meeting with officials of the Flood and Irrigation Department and the Public Works Department and the municipal bodies.
Meanwhile, Delhi State Industrial And Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (DSIIDC) as part of its Summer Action Plan has already started cleaning and de-silting works in industrial areas like GT Karnal Road, Badli Industrial Area, Kirti Nagar, Mangolpuri Industrial Area, Phase-I, Udyog Nagar, DSIIDC Nangloi, Jhilmil, Patparganj, Naraina Industrial Area, Wazirpur, Okhla, Narela and Bawana Industrial Area.
On April 16 this month, the Delhi High Court had summoned the chief secretary over the government's non-seriousness on the water-logging issue and sought an explanation.
The project involved photographing of drains and waterlogged areas. Not only the drains that lead to massive water-logging, but also the potholes on roads that are a danger during the monsoon.
