Delhi govt writes to Centre to increase import of pulses

Concerned over rise in prices of pulses in the national capital, Delhi government has decided to write to the Centre to increase its import.
The government's move comes after a delegation of city's grain dealers today met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat.
According to a government official, grain dealers told the Chief Minister that there is no stock limit of pulse in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, which are the major grain-producing states and sought a legal stock limit there like Delhi.
"Food and Supply Minister Asim Ahmed Khan will write to the Centre to increase import of pulses so that Delhiites could be provided pulses at affordable rates," the official said.

He also said that the government will demand from the Central government to ensure that states -- Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan -- have "legal stock limit" of pulses.
