Delhi Home Secretary S N Sahai, who was recently transferred to Goa, has been allowed by the Centre to continue on his post till September considering his request to defer his transfer order on personal ground.
Sahai, a 1986-batch IAS officer, is also tipped to be appointed by the AAP government as new Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department as incumbent Ramesh Negi is retiring on July 31. Negi was appointed as acting Chief Secretary last week after K K Sharma went on leave till July 25.
"Sahai had sought to defer his transfer order for a few days on personal ground which the Delhi government forwarded to the Union Home Ministry. Considering his request, the ministry has now deferred his transfer to Goa till September," an official said.
After the transfer order, the Delhi government had, however, relieved Sahai of the charge of Finance Secretary and appointed 1988-batch IAS officer Dharmendra Sharma as new Finance Secretary.
The official said Sahai will continue to hold post of Delhi Home Secretary. He is one of most senior officers working in the Delhi Government.
