Following directions from the Chief Minister's Public Grievance Monitoring System (PGMS), the labour department organised special grievance resolution camps in six districts of Delhi over the weekend to solve the problems of complainants.
A senior government official said it was noticed that while the volume of grievances being resolved by various departments was satisfactory, the feedback from many of the complainants was that there was scope for improvement.
Taking this into consideration, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently convened a meeting with the HoDs of all departments during which they were directed to personally monitor the grievance resolution process to ensure timely and effective handling of cases.
"The labour department was instructed by the PGMS team to organise special grievance resolution camps to provide a personal hearing to the complainants for a proper resolution of grievances. Deputy Labour Commissioners (DLC) of various districts personally reviewed the grievance cases," an official said.
The official said that, accordingly, about 500 citizens, who were not satisfied with the resolutions previously made by the department were personally contacted on phone on behalf of the PGMS team and invited to attend these sessions.
"All these complainants were separately also reminded about the sessions via SMS with details of location.
"It was also made sure that 2-3 representatives from the PGMS team would be present at each public hearing camp for ensuring the smooth conduct of these," the official added.
The PGMS team has provided structured resolution report documents to labour department officials so that a proper analysis could be made of the resolutions done by it.
The report documents were designed to also collect the complainants' feedback regarding the personal hearing given by labour department officials and the subsequent resolutions made by them.
