Parcels with clocks trigger bomb scare, turn out to be hoax

Parcels found in two separate upscale locations here today created a bomb scare and a check by bomb disposal squad revealed it was a hoax as the packets contained alarm clocks, police said.
While one parcel was found in a popular shopping mall in Chetpet, another was located in a hotel on Sterling Road. In both places they were found in toilets, triggering panic.
On learning of the discovering of the parcels, a large number of people swarmed the mall and hotel as bomb disposal squads checked the parcels, which had one time-piece or alarm clocks each.
The incident comes after a similar incident last month in the Madras High Court premises, where two alarm clocks were found in a toilet.

"This is a hoax, we are investigating further," a police official told PTI adding though it looked like an attention grabbing prank, all angles are being probed.
