Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan today said demonetisation of high value notes has the public support as they felt that it wasnecessary for the economic development of the country.
Talking to reporters here, the minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, said through demonetisation the Prime Minister has come out with a decisive measure to save the country and take the nation on "excellent" economic path.
Accepting that "there were certain difficulties for the peoplewhile implementing the demonetisation measure", he said "peopleare however bearing the pain for the larger gain to the nation and for its economic development."
On the allegation by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi that he (Gandhi) has information on "personal corruption" by the Prime Minister in the demonetisation matter, Radhakrishnan said that "Rahul Gandhi is a responsible Parliamentarian and hence he should come out with what he really has to say and what corruption charge he has to disclose against the Prime Minister".
"Mere levelling of chargeand without disclosing the details of the actual corruption charge amounted to causing a betrayal to the nation", he said.
On disputes in sharing Cauvery river water among riparian states, he said "the best way to bring to an end to the river water disputes is to nationalise the rivers".
