Deport illegal immigrants: AAMSU

"Foreigners irrespective of cast, creed or religion who entered after March 25, 1971 must be deported," AAMSU president Abdur Rahim Ahmed told a rally at Nehrubali in Nagaon district of Assam today.

He, however, added that genuine Indian citizens should not be harassed in the name of deporting foreigners.

Ahmed said that the government should take immediate steps to seal the international border between India and Bangladesh.

AAMSU also demanded steps to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and called upon the state government to rehabilate those affected during the recent clash in lower Assam.
