A 31-year-old Dera Sacha Sauda follower was seriously injured today when three unidentified persons opened fire at him in Jawahar Singh Wala village here following which tension prevailed in the area, police said.
The assailants came in a car and shot at Gurdev Singh, leaving him seriously injured, they said.
Singh was running a grocery shop in front of a Gurudwara in the village where a theft of religious scriptures had taken place around six months ago, police said.
The victim was admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana, police said, adding a case has been registered in this connection and a search is on to nab the attackers.
