DFCC awards Rs 3789 crore contract for western DFC

Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) has awarded an integrated contract worth over Rs 3700 crore involving civil, electrical and signal-Telecom works on 128 km long section between Dadri and Rewari in the Western DFC.
The contract was awarded at a total cost of Rs 3798.9 crore to the successful bidder Sojitz-L&T consortium.
With this, total number of 19 contracts with total accepted contract price of Rs 32,683 crore have been awarded in JICA funded Western DFC project, according to a DFCC official.
DFCC, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) is engaged in planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the Dedicated Freight Corridors and in the first phase, the two corridors, namely Eastern Corridor from Ludhiana to Dankuni (1840 km) and the Western Corridor from Dadri to Jawahar Lal Nehru Port (JNPT) (1502 km) are being constructed for exclusively movement of goods trains.
The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor from Ludhiana to Dankuni near Kolkata will pass through states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The Western Dedicated Freight corridor from Dadri (Uttar Pradesh) to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (Mumbai) will pass through Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The Western corridor is being funded by Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), while the Eastern Corridor from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana is being funded by the World Bank.
