Rajnath reviews SSB's operational preparedness

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed the functioning of border guarding force SSB and issued directions for enhancement of the paramilitarys' operations and other administrative issues.
Officials said the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) gave a presentation to the Minister about the requirements of the force with regard to enhancement of manpower, upgrade of weaponary, infrastructure and other operational requirements at his office in North Block here.
They said the Minister was also briefed about the pending approval of certain sanctions vis-a-vis acquiring land for establishing centres in various states and border areas.
The Home Minister, they said, has asked the officials to expedite the approvals for the force.

During the meeting, SSB officials were led by Director General Archana Ramasundaram while Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and other senior officials were also present.
The Home Minister has earlier undertaken review of other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like ITBP and BSF.
