As per the schedule, the notification for the poll will be issued on March 14 and the last date of nominations will be March 21. The scrutiny of nomination will be done on March 22 and the last date of withdrawal is on March 24. Counting of votes will take place on April 13.
The by-election was necessitated by the election of sitting BJP MLA Pradan Baruah as MP of Lakhimpur Lok Sabha seat.
Baruah had won the parliamentary seat after Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who had earlier represented Lakhimpur, vacated the seat following election to the state Assembly from Majuli(ST) Assembly constituency.
