A Silicon Valley-based Indian- American think-tank will hold the first annual dialogue on "integral humanism" as part of Hindutva icon Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay's birth centenary celebrations here next week.
The "Integral Humanism: Indian Thought for the 21st Century Society, Economy and Politics" dialogue will be held at the US Capitol on October 23.
It will be attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shiviraj Chauhan, senior BJP leader Ram Madhav and eminent economist Arvind Panagariya.
The dialogue is organised by the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) in association with the Embassy of India. Several top American lawmakers are expected to attend the inaugural annual annual dialogue.
It will focus on key political and economic issues facing the world, FIIDS said in a statement.
It will be an occasion to deliberate on the possible responses to the growing range of challenges from political instability, terrorism, economic disparity, unemployment and poverty and the problem of climate change, it said.
Upadhyaya is best known for his doctrine of "integral humanism" which he saw as the foundation for world peace and prosperity.
"This doctrine puts the human being at the center of development and looks to provide a minimum standard of living to every individual," FIIDS said.
It believes in a synthesis of the material and the spiritual, the individual and the collective, and favours the use of natural resources at a rate at which it can be replenished, it added.
Late last month, the Indian Embassy in Washington and its other consulates in the US, celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of Upadhyaya.
