Godinho's statement that panchayat secretaries were responsible for teaching panch members to indulge into corrupt practice was protested by Shiv Sena which had sought an apology from him.
"If everybody wants to paint everybody with same brush then it is up to them. I never painted everybody with same brush. I only said that some secretaries who are corrupt will face action. Again I am repeating the same," Godinho told reportersin Vasco town today.
"Secretaries are government servants and they are not doing any favour. It is their duty to work for the people and those who are not doing their job properly and are only interested in making money then such people should be sent home," he said.
Shiv Sena's Goa spokesman Rakhi Naik addressing a press conference had alleged that the panch members in different panchayats were indulged in corrupt practices putting the common people to hardship.
