Did not raid residence of any Orissa HC judge: CBI

After a case of trespass was registered against a team of CBI officials, the central probe agency today refuted allegations that it raided the residence of any sitting Orissa High Court Judge.
The Odisha Police today registered a case of trespass against a team of CBI officials, who late last night allegedly made an attempt to enter into the house of a sitting judge of Orissa High Court in Cuttack for conducting a raid and search.
"On the basis of secret information, the CBI apprehended a private person with Rs 1 crore received as bribe in a case related to a private medical college," CBI Spokesperson Abhishek Dayal said in a statement.

Related to the case, he said, the CBI is investigating the role of a retired Orissa High Court judge along with other persons.
"During the said investigation, the CBI team visited several places last night, including current and past residences of the said retired Orissa High Court judge," he said.
Dayal said in the course of this, the CBI team with independent witnesses also visited the former residence of the retired Orissa High Court judge in Cuttack for recovering incriminating documents and cash.
"The CBI team was informed at the gate that the said retired judge was no longer residing there. The CBI immediately left the location and informed the local police of the development," he said.

Dayal said the CBI strongly refutes any allegation of attempt to search or trespass at the residence of any sitting Orissa High Court judge.
