In a novel tribute to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru ahead of his 125th Birth Anniversary, 125 differently-abled children today offered roses to his sand sculpture.
On the occasion, a 5-foot tall statue of 'Chacha Nehru' was crafted using 50 tonnes of sand by internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik at the ongoing Anjali National Children's festival here.
"I am honoured to join this unique occasion with the real heroes to celebrate Nehruji's birth anniversary," Pattnaik said.
Sruti Mohapatra, chief coordinator of Anjali National Children's Festival, said, "This is our tribute to Pandit Nehru. We celebrate his deep and unconditional love for all children."
The festival is meant to celebrate solidarity between differently-abled and other children.
