The filmmaker will rewrite his latest Bengali supernatural-horror-drama "Ludo" for his maiden Hindi venture, produced by Phantom Films.
"We are making this film in Hindi with Phantom. We have just about finalised everything and started rewriting. It's not a remake. It's sort of a continuation," Q told PTI.
He was speaking on the sidelines of "Ludo" screening at the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.
"Ludo" is a story of four youngsters trapped inside a mall, who encounter an old couple and get sucked into a deadly game of horror and gore.
Unlike the Bengali version, which was co-directed by Nikon, the Hindi film will be helmed by Q alone.
"I will be directing it myself. Nikon is not here, he is in Canada and will be there for the next two years. So he can't physically do it."
The "Tasher Desh" director prefers to call this as a "Hindi" film debut rather than "Bollywood" and says language plays an integral part in his films.
Q is currently filming an untitled British-Indian co-production English comedy and is also excited for the experimental "X", which is directed by a team of 11 filmmakers.
"X" is scheduled to release on November 30.
