Disruptions in Parliament prevented fruitful discussions: MP

A Congress MP today expressed dissatisfaction over the disruption of the Parliament by political parties as it did not allow for fruitful discussons on various issues.
"It is not easy to discuss in Parliament. We have to request Speaker to allow us to raise questions. Due to the disruptions we were not able to raise the issues related to our constituencies..", Congress M P S S Ramasubbu told reporters here.
He said about 150 MPs were dejected for not able to hold any "fruitful" discussions due to the disruptions.
According to a report of PRS Legsilative Research, during the 12 sittings of the winter session that began on February five, Lok Sabha lost 79 per cent of scheduled time to disruptions while Rajya Sabha lost 73 per cent time to disruptions.
Both the Houses were productive only for 24 per cent of the total time, the report said.
Ramasubbu, a sitting MP representing Tirunelveli constituency from Tamil Nadu was here to receive the "Sansad Ratna Award" for the fifth consecutive time, organised by non-profit organisation Prime Point Foundation.
The other MPs who received the award apart from Ramasubbu, include Shiv Sena MPs Anandrao Adsul, Shivaji Adhalrao, Gajanan Dharmshi and BJP MP Hansraj Gangaram.
A women BJP MP, Rama Devi from Bihar was also the receipient of the award.
The award has been presented to the MPs based on their participation in debates, raising questions, attendance to Parliament.
