Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh today took potshots at Janata Dal(S) for allegedly entering into an understanding with BJP in two Lok Sabha by-elections in Karnataka which were won by ruling Congress.
Soon after the results were announced, Singh tweeted, questioning the secular credentials of JD(S).
"How can JD (Secular) be SECULAR by aligning with Communal BJP? I am sure Deve Gowdaji and Kumarswami would give it a thought," Singh said in a tweet.
In another tweet, he wrote "Congress wins both Parliament by-elections on JD(S) seats in Karnataka in spite of BJP's full support to JD(S). Thank the voters of both seats".
Both seats were earlier held by JD(S) but Congress won from them comfortably. BJP did not field its candidate.
