Division of Nagas into groups and factions since the inception of Naga liberation struggle has led to fratricidal killings in the community, the apex body of tribal organisations in the state said today.
In a statement issued here by Naga Hoho, the outfit's president Keviletuo Kiewhuo and general secretary P Chuba Ozukum said an emergency consultative meeting with the organisation's subordinate bodies was held on Friday to discuss issues related to various Naga tribes.
According to the statement, the meeting strongly opined that Naga people have been divided into many groups and factions both underground and overground since the inception of struggle for Naga liberation and this has led to fratricidal killings among the Naga people.
In this backdrop, the Naga Hoho said that it shall never be a party to divide the Naga community further.
Expressing concern that some people with vested interest were trying to create divisions and were in the process of creating another platform called Nagaland Tribal Council, the meeting maintained that it is irrational to form such a body at this crucial juncture when things are moving forward towards finding Naga political settlement.
In this connection, the house unanimously resolved that "no one will be allowed to represent their respective Tribal Hohos in any of the upcoming meetings other than those of Naga Hoho.
