DJB instals instrument for removing ammonia from water

Having witnessed instances of water treatment plants being shut down, Delhi Jal Board today installed an instrument that will remove ammonia from water which will help uninterrupted functioning of plants.
There had been several instances in the past two months when the Wazirabad and Chandrawal water treatment plants of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had to be shut down due to excess ammonia in raw water sourced from the Yamuna river, predominantly due to industrial discharges in Haryana.
"Remember we had to sometimes shut our water treatment plants because of high ammonia from Haryana? Today, DJB has installed an instrument which will remove ammonia and plants won't be shut anymore. Proud of DJB," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a series of tweets.

"For years, DJB was shutting down plants due to ammonia. In our tenure, it happened in January. Three months & we have solved the issue. Now DJB plants will remain functional upto 2 ppm ammonia. No complete shutdown due to ammonia needed," Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra said over Twitter.
