DMK today condemned the
lathicharge on a group of people who had a thronged a centre where free mixers and grinders were distributed under a government scheme.
Hitting out at the government, convener of the Puducherry South Unit of the DMK and former legislator R.Siva alleged that Chief Minister N Rangasamy was favouring his Kadirkamam constituency from where he was elected and 'ignoring' other segments.
Even launching of new schemes had commenced from Kadirkamam only, he charged.
In a release, Siva said people, who feared that they would be left out of the scheme, had thronged the venue which led to a melee and police lathicharge near here yesterday.
Around 20 persons, including women, were injured in the police action which could have been avoided if the government distributed the appliances constituency wise, the DMK convenor said.

The People's Welfare Front comprising five parties also
condemned the lathicharge and accused the government of 'failure' to make necessary arrangements.
Front Convenor R Viswanathan (CPI) in a release said the Police action on the people was highly objectionable and the government should be held responsible for it.
He urged the administration to distribute the mixies and grinders through Anganwadi centres in each constituency.
He also charged Rangasamy with focussing only on his constituency and ignoring others.
The front comprises CPI, CPI (M), RSP, VCK and MDMK.
