All Area Welfare Officers (AWOs), who serve as a link between the government and residents in matters relating to the welfare of government employees living in various colonies, have been asked not to use State Emblem on their letter heads.
It has come to notice that some of the Area Welfare Officers are using their letter heads printed with Ashoka Emblem which is contrary to the instructions issued on the subject, said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
All the Area Welfare Officers are requested to strictly comply with the instructions, it said.
The AWOs are appointed in residential colonies having a large number of central government employees.
The AWOs also work as field officers coordinating and maintaining liaison with the agencies of government concerned in matters relating to provision of various civic amenities to the residents, such as CPWD, CGHS, Horticulture, Police, Transport and others.
There are at present 64 AWOs in Delhi and 25 at places outside the national capital.
