Docs and NGOs in Bikaner to plant sapling on birth of a girl

The district administration has embarked on a unique initiative which will require doctors and NGOs here to plant saplings on birth of a girl child.
Parents of the girl child and the district administration will jointly take care of the plants, district collector Vedprakash said.
He said that along with the parents of the newborn girl child, officials of the district administration, doctors and others will plant sapling on the birth of the girl child.
The initiative, which will start from January 24, is under the purview of 'Balika Upwan' programme which aims at promoting the birth of girl child.

The collector also gave directions to the PBM government hospital authorities to identify places for plantation on priority basis.
The plantation will be carried out in the premises of hospitals, community health centres, schools and others.
