The documentary, titled "Kailash" and directed by debutante Derek Doneen, traces Satyarthi's journey and his efforts to eliminate child trafficking and child labour.
The film has been produced by Davis Guggenheim and Sarah Anthony, and co-produced by Purnima Raghunath.
Satyarthi took to Twitter to share the news.
"'Kailash' is a reminder that we will see the end of child slavery in my lifetime. I am humbled as 'Kailash' was chosen the winner of the US Documentary Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival. Congratulations to Derek and his team," he wrote.
"'Kailash' is a tribute to my colleagues Dhoomdas, Adarsh and Kalu who sacrificed their lives. And a recognition of all my colleagues who fought and are still fighting for human freedom and dignity as co-marchers in this challenging journey," he said.
The ten-day movie gala promoting indie cinema ends today.
