Congress in West Bengal today said its doors were open for any leader or worker in the Trinamool Congress, as speculation mounted over the future course of action of Mukul Roy, who was considered TMC's second in-command before falling out with Mamata Banerjee.
"Most of those who are in Trinamool Congress are originally from Congress, so if they choose to leave the TMC, then Congress has to be their natural choice," West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Adhir Chowdhury said here.
Without naming Roy, the Congress state chief said that all the TMC people were "in sync with the Congress culturally, politically and ideologically."
The Trinamool Congress yesterday removed Roy, a former confidant of Mamata Banerjee, from the key post of party general secretary, a day after he was replaced as the party's leader in the Rajya Sabha.
In the midst of speculation about a rift with the TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Roy, a founder member of the party who has been under CBI scanner in the Saradha chit fund scam, did not figure in the new 21-member working committee set up at the party's working committee meeting which was held at Banerjee's residence.
