District Sessions Judge Mohammad Fahim Anwar, after finding seven accused guilty in the case, sentenced them to life imprisonment and absolved 11 other accused.
Ramshanker, Rameshwar, Ashok, Ram Kishore, Sohan, Suraj and Kamlesh have been given life imprisonment, while Anand, Jairam, Anil, Rewa Ram, Durga Prasad, Umashanker, Kapil, Rahul, Sitaram, Balram and Chandrashekhar have been acquitted for want of evidence against them in the case, public prosecutor K K Thapak said.
The convicts had fired at Rameshwar Jakhar and Ganesh Tharol, who were returning home from a court hearing on a motorbike at Seoni-Malwa over an old enmity on May 9, 2012. While Jakhar died on the spot, Ganesh breathed his last in a hospital, he said.
