The father of Vijay Rajbhar, one of the accused in the Kandivali double murder case, today claimed that his son could not have been involved in the crime.
Police have arrested Vijay Rajbhar, Azad Rajbhar, Pradeep Rajbhar and Shivkumar Rajbhar in connection with the murder of installation artist Hema Upadhyaya and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani.
"My son is a simple and well-mannered person, ask his neighbours and friends, they will tell you. He cannot harm anyone," said Ramdhar Rajbhar, Vijay's father.
He said he came to know about Vijay's arrest only through newspapers and was shocked.
When asked about his son's association with Vidhyadhar Rajbhar, the main accused who is still on the run, he said, "My son only used to ferry his (Vidhyadhar's) goods. Like any other driver my son used to provide him transport service. He was not employed by Vidhyadhar and they only had a work-related relationship."
Vijay was allegedly the one who took the bodies from Vidyadhar's warehouse to a drain in suburban Kandivali.
Ramdhar also alleged that police had called Vijay's 16-year-old son to the police station. "I came from Varanasi this morning and come to know that police have called my grandson," Ramdhar said.
