Based on specific intelligence, officers of the DRI Hyderabad Zonal Unit seized 4.232 kg of gold from Air India flight AI-951 yesterday, a DRI release stated today.
The flight arrived from Visakhapatnam and was bound for Dubai, while it had arrived in Mumbai from Dubai earlier, the release stated.
"The gold was ingeniously concealed behind commodes inside rear toilets of the aircraft. Officers of DRI retrieved and seized 4.232 kg of gold of foreign origin valued at Rs 1.07 crore along with the packing material under provisions of the Customs Act," the release stated.
