Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath today said the driver ferrying Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was responsible for putting on a beacon light when the latter attended a party programme here on Tuesday.
The CEC said the officer who released the beacon-fitted car was also responsible as the state provides security to the Union Minister.
"An FIR was lodged and at this point of inquiry, the driver who put on the light is responsible. The officer who released the car is also responsible," he said.
Deputy Commissioner Vinay Choubey had on Tuesday ordered a probe to find out whether there was any Election Model Code violation by Jaitley, who reached the venue where the BJP released its poll manifesto.
Election Commissioner Harishankar Brahma said any Union Minister visiting Jharkhand for electioneering purpose should foot their own bills.
