Drug peddler held, methamphetamine worth Rs 8.25 lakh seized

A suspected drug peddler has been arrested from suburban Malwani for allegedly possessing 110 grams of methamphetamine valued at Rs 8.25 lakh.
"On a tip-off, that peddler Prasannajit Babu Baroit was scheduled to arrive near Zunka Bhakar Kendra in Malwani last evening, police laid a trap and nabbed him," said Deputy Police Commissioner Balsing Rajput.
Methamphetamine weighing 110 gms was seized from his possession, he said.
Malwani Police were investigating for whom the consignment was supposed to be delivered, the DCP said.
The contraband is peddled at rave parties with street names like MD, Meow Meow and Crystal, police said.

A rampant increase in the peddling and consumption of methamphetamine has led the Mumbai Police to conduct several raids across the city of late.
Youngsters from affluent to lower class families are addicted to the drug as the market for the contraband has moved from elite circles to local areas, police said.
