DUSU polls posters: Candidates allege conspiracy by rivals

Candidates contesting the upcoming Delhi University Students' Union polls, who were served show-cause notices for using printed material for campaigning have alleged that the posters were pasted by their rival groups as a "conspiracy".
The claims of conspiracy have been made by the candidates in response to the show-cause notice which was served to them, the deadline of which expired today.
Election committee for DUSU polls has decided to forward the matter to the grievance cell for further inquiry of the violations for which the candidates were served notices.
Meanwhile, the other 19 students who filed nominations but are not contesting the polls now have not replied and DU has decided to give them another 24 hours to reply, before taking any further action.

"They are claiming that the posters were pasted by their rival groups as a conspiracy. The rest of the students are yet to reply. The university authorities want to give them another chance. So they can now reply by tomorrow failing which we will proceed with ex-parte action," Chief Election Commissioner for DUSU polls DS Rawat said.
The grievance cell will probe into the violations happening regarding use of posters and banners related to DUSU elections in the campus.
As per Lyngdoh committee recommendations, the candidates in student union polls can only campaign using handmade posters and not printed ones. However, walls full of such posters in DU's North Campus are a common sight every year.

Rawat had yesterday issued show-cause notices to 36 students, which include 17 candidates contesting for the four DUSU central panel posts for violation of the National Green Tribunal orders on wastage of papers during students' union elections, Lyngdoh Committee's recommendations and the model code of conduct of DUSU.
